Matching Sub, Center and Surround for Kipsch RP 260, Budget 90 K

Hi guys,
I have finalised on taking Klipsch RP 260 as my main speakers, and i want to take the RP 240s for surrounds, as i really loved them in the demo. now i need to decide for my Center, Sub and Surround also, if better options are available in this range. would've gone with klipsch but the whole set is not affordable at all.
my budget for these is 90 K (center, sub, surround), and i'm mostly going to use them for movies. the room size is about 250- 300 sq ft.

I am in the same boat as yours. I really loved RP-280F & RP-450C during my audition, specially the center RP-450C. Dialogs were Crisp & Clear. Normally I have to enable subtitles during a movie. But here everything was very clear.

I am a rookie in this field. But researching for an upgrade to my existing speaker KEF-IQ5 (Tower), KEF-IQ200C (Center) & KEF Eggs as surround.

What is your opinion about Bookshelf & very good subwoofer?

We have this impression that towers are best for sound. This may be true when you are looking for stereo, but for movies, center & subwoofer become very important. This Image taken from "Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers" paper depicts what percentage of sound each speaker handles.

What I have read is Center & Sub woofer are the most important speaker for movies. Do you really want to compromise on them ? Normally it is recommended that front three should be from same brand & same range. Now a new trend is emerging where all the three are being recommended as same speakers. As you are purchasing a subwoofer, why not reduce your cost & try bookshelf RP-160M + RP-450C combo.

I am also thinking of this combo & would be again going for an audition this weekend.

You can consider polk center (CSI A4) and surrounds (OWM3) spend rest of the amount to a decent sub like SVS/KLIPSCH.

Mostly this would come into your budget very well.

Yes better to have a center from Klipsch RP series. For surrounds Polk owm3 or wharfedale DFS should be fine.

Always match your front speakers with the center channel, so go for Klipsh RP series itself. The surrounds and subs are independent and can go as per your budget that allows.

Yes, same brand cum series also a good way for front stage.

Thanks, this is really helpful. I'd been focusing on towers and ignored the center.
So I'll pair it with 250c, but for sub, everyone seems to agree that one can get equally good performance from cheaper brands. I was looking at sub's from velodyne and big America, but I am yet to audition anything. If you have any recommendations I'm all ears.

Yes, BIC & Velodyne are among the popular ones. Recently some of the members have bought TAGA Platinum SW10. One of our forum member @elangoas is having 2 TAGA instead of an expensive SUB.

Recently People are recommending 2 subs rather than buying 1 expensive sub. What I have read is that it helps in even distribution of bass in the room.

On the bit higher side is SVS, the most popular one. Alliance4 is the dealer in Mumbai. He is also dealer for Velodyne. Velodyne Impact has come out with new Impact 12 Mk II model which has just started shipping. Earlier one is no longer available with dealer & distributor. They have SVS PB1000 for audition right now.

BIC is available with Avenuesound. They also have Rythmik.

Some of the other available ones are:
Sunfire SDS10 - 48,000
Sunfire SDS12 - 62,000

There is one more Brand available that is popular in europe. It is XTZ. They have 8" sub (Model-8.17) at 31,000 & 10" (10.17) at 62,500 MRP. Our Forum Member @dr_rocket has purchased it.
