Modi 2 Uber has stopped working at my place. Will not power on.
Need help to figure out if the power adapter is working.
If anyone has this unit please PM me; I want to try powering up with a different adapter.

Get a basic multi-meter (under Rs. 500) and check the adapter output in DC mode. It should output 16 volts.

If not,
Just get 2 piece of wire.
In one wire, cut off insulation for half a centimeter at both ends. Insert one end into the cavity in the adapter pin.
In the other wire, cut off insulation by 2 cms and wind it around the outer side (metal) of the adapter pin. Strip half a centimeter at the other end.

Now both the wires will have a bare end each.
Now power the adapter.

One crude way to check is to touch one bare end with the other bare end of the wire, do not join, just touch. If it sparks mildly, your adapter is working fine.
Else get a DC LEB bulb for the rated value and see of it glows when to connect it to the bare ends of the wire.

Just acquired a Chromecast Audio puck.
I had heard it on my buddy's rig a while ago.
Had it on wishlist.
Winterbirds from US got it. $15 Black Friday sale.

Wanted to connect to Modi and check SQ.
But I need to check if I can power it up.
For all I know the unit may be kaput.
Hoping it's adapter and not DAC that's blown.

I am super impressed at what the little puck can do in good old analog.
Full marks in price to performance category

Cheers,
Raghu

Update:
Got a replacement adapter from Schiit Audio
Original was 16VAC, 500mA
New one is 14VAC, 1500mA
Schiit Audio says 14VAC can be used as replacement for 16VAC.

DAC powers on fine now. It was the power adapter that went bad earlier.
Also got a mini-TosLink to TosLink optical cable (from Monoprice).
Chromecast Audio is now connected to DAC via optical.

Definite change in sound signature as compered to CCA analog out.
A bit darker background, which is what Modi 2 Uber brings to the chain.
Was missing this bit of layering that the DAC provides for a while now.
2-ch rig is fully active now.
As a part of other purchases, I got MA radius cubes. So the stereo setup is isolated from AVR setup.

Thanks to FM @MaSh who helped confirm that the PS adapter was busted indeed.
Thanks to FM @gilfredpaul who offered to allow testing with his unit; though it was not required.

Cheers,
Raghu
