Friends,

My BIL is bringing a used LSi 9 later this month. I currently have a pair of GS10. Before he lugs the heavy bookshelves, I would like to get an idea if it is worth.

Has anyone heard both? Any listening impressions? I spend more time in listening to music with 2-3 movies a week.

One important change I have to make if the LSi9 comes is to change the amp since LSi9 is 4Ohm.

Thanks in advance,
PKR

Kittu, I am happy with GS10.

He got it on a deal(400$). He is coming without much luggage it seems. Hence he was suggesting that he can bring that. I wanted him to lug that only if it will be an (vast) improvement. Otherwise, didn't want to bother him with the heavy package.

Since LSi9 was supposed to be an earlier flagship from Polk, wondering how that will be against another great product from MA.

NB: If there is a resale market, we can still get it :p

Right amp match is required. Our forum member RAJ had these speakers and sold to another forum member later. You can check with him. 4ohm speakers you need some high end amplification to drive them. Online reviews are quite good. :)

Off topic , are you planning to sell the GS10 ?

Thanks Kittu. Will check with Raj.

I will defnitely will let you know, if I do (I do not think I will... But you never know... How ears feel...

I have a hunch the gs10 vastly outclasses the lsi9 in accurate reproduction of sound.

+1. I've found the Monitor Audio's very musical but never found Polk to be very musical (more like HT speakers).

Unlikely you would find them improving on the GS10.

I compared RX series of monitor audio and in agreement that monito audio for me was more musical than Polk audio

I have not heard the lsi series myself though I would like to hear it. But from what I know, it is a completely different breed from the normal tsi and rti speakers we see. The lsi series is said to be warmer and much more musical than the tsi and rti, where the latter are more geared towards HT.

The LSI9 seems to have an interesting design, a standmount 2 1/2 way speaker, with two woofers and a ring radiated tweeter.

It should be an interesting comparison.

Yes lsi is definitely the better range from polk audio but compared to the gs10, the only improvement you may find is a little more bass and body of sound. The gs10 will outclass the LSi in everything else, such as speed, detail, transparency, texture, resonance, accuracy.

Folks, thanks a lot for your suggestions. Based on your suggestions, my reluctance to drop GS10, amplifier requirements and more importantly, the weight considerations (76 pounds), finally decided that it may not be worth the trouble and we have decided to drop bringing the LSi9.

Thanks a lot again for your suggestions and thoughts.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
