Hey, I got Monoprice 8247 imported from USA. Now I am looking for AVR which can compliment this system. This is my first music system setup so not willing to spend too much money. Even used but in good condition AVR should do for me. Also this system need 220v to 110v converter. Suggestions welcome on voltage converter as well (500/1000/1500?).
I need suggestions on two components:-

1. 220v to 110v converter with price
2. AVR in low budget (Used but in good condition will also do)

Congratulations. How did you manage to import and what were the financial implications? I had used these speakers in the recent past. Any entry level AVR would be able to drive it. Look for bargains in the 'For Sale' section.

These are good speakers for a 5.1 setup specially for movies. Don't expect much from these speakers for music though. These speakers don't play low frequencies at all and you'd need to upgrade to some bookshelves if music is your first choice. Till then enjoy movies on this setup.

@kneo Someone imported these speakers and I directly purchased it in India. Can you please tell me whether these speakers need 500w voltage converter or 250w converter can do? Also Can I use 5.1 stereo amplifier instead of AVR with this?

Dear,

Voltage is measured in terms of volts(V) not watts(W). You need a voltage converter which is step down transformer (220-110). So go to electric market in budhwar peth and you may find the same.
In the section "for sale by owner"you may find the used AVR.

@dheerajin You are correct about voltage .. I need 220v to 110v converter but again this has got wattage specifications with big variations in price. I wanted to be sure about wattage also. Anyway specific shop in budhwar peth for cable/converter and amplifier?

Wattage is mentioned for power performance of the sound not the wattage of the power supply. Any normal voltage converter would easily handle this power.

I hope you got the point...if not ask your doubt..
there is no specific shop in budhwar peth..you may have to ask 2-3 shops and then they will guide.

Check out the current (Amps) used, any stepdown transformer will not do, suggest you get the transformer used by the seller.

Check the subwoofer's specifications - does it require a 110V conversion or would it run on 230V?

@dheerajin When I checked with Ashish @AvenueSound, he told me that If sub is powered (in case of 8247 yes), I need 500w converter and not 250W.
