I am looking for a native 4k bluray player under 40k.

Just wondering if a PS5 may be a better bet if it is above 50k.. yours thoughts on this too. (PS5 does not support DV notwithstanding)

I m using a PS5 for 4k bluray playback as i m not much of a Videophile then an Audiophile :)
It's connected to a 65" Sony Oled so it's decent & gets the job done. I m sure there are better options but i do hit a game 2-3x a week so makes sense not to club rack space by getting another dedicated 4k bluray player, i do wish the PS5 had DV support for disc playback as that is the only thing lacking for it. Its decent if you hit games once in a while.

Cheers.

Does it upscale FHD BR movie discs? Also recently they say the console decodes Dolby Atmos as a result of a recent software update. Do you get ATMOS object based sonic performance? I have an Atmos receiver Denon 2700h. Which is why i am inquisitive.

@Donivlapog : if not the player, the TV will upscale and probably do it better. SO should not be cause for worry. And I thought PS5 received a DV update recently?

Yes i think it upscales everything to 4k, the PS5 always had Dolby Atmos for bluray playback, it's for video games that it has just been added.
I have watched 4k discs with Dolby Atmos, DTS MA on the PS5 earlier no issues.

The cheapest options would be Xbox One S/X followed by Xbox Series S/X/Sony PS5.

The Sony UBPX700 also goes for about 20k in the used market if you want a dedicated 4k player.
