I removed a 650 GB esata HD from a laptop. I would like to mount it in a tower cabinet. Are there any brackets available to mount it in either a floppy or 5.5" HD bay? TIA

Yes you get brackets to make a 3.5" out of the 5.5" floppy drive slots. Try the itdepot.com or the primeabgb.com or similar sites. I have seen some on sale on those sites.

its a standard 2.5 in HDD in all laptops. you can pull out the black adaptor that is connected over the standard sata jack. and connect it inside the tower over the Floppy drive mount. will work fine. else get a 3.5 to 2.5 bracket and mount it then.

should be available at CTC as well as ameerpet. big shop opposite to maitrivanam.

go to Shweta computers : ask for manish Jain else moolchand. tell him Aman.
Manish is first reference.

however i would suggest you to first try to mount the 2.5 in Floppy drive rack if you dont have a FD in the cabinet.

@ironhorse,
Thanks for the info. Prefer a 5.5" to 2.5" bracket so that the HDD will be easily accessible. Otherwise, I could remove the FDD and mount it in its bay. Will try CTC as I live near Secunderabad
