Yesterday one of the true legends of music, MS Viswanathan, passed away, and I am surprised that none in this forum mentioned this. Or, did I miss any thread?

He is legend ....RIP

Very few watch old black and white movies which forms a huge part of his work ... and once Raja came ....virtually every hit song was considered to be his ......i had this experience many times were even shopkeepers would say that must be a raaja song ...and then after looking at the inlay ...they would say ...oh its MSV ..

His life was a lesson! ... From Hardships to Fame ....!

May his soul RIP!

He will live for ever though!

Rajavin paarvai raniyin pakkam......

Athan en athan unnai ennithan....

wow what numbers....!!!

RIP MSV

The variety of Music he has given in B&W era of Tamil Were remarkable.

Personally Pudiya Paravai- Every song in the film of variety and just stick and gels to the situation.

Kanne Kaniamudey is best Classic and western fusion music.

He is Guru for Raja Sir ,ARR Sir. In fact he gave a strong foundation for Tamil music in B&W era.

He is the star and his work will be on top for ever.

Picking up on this now, as I just viewed it.

Elsewhere, I commented on how members seemed to be unaware
of Jesudas singing Salil Chowdhury's Malayalam numbers.

Members of this thread are probably aware of MSV's collaboration
with T.K. Ramamurthy, but surprisingly no one commented on this.

The duo split in 1965 ( think they started in the early '50s ).
As with most famous duos ( read The Beatles, The Supremes,
our own Shankar Jaikishan ), when they split or one of them
passes on, the quality of the music of the solo member/s
tends to be less than the quality of the collaborative effort.
You do see gems here and there, but when the collaboration
was in effect, you could see gems EVERYWHERE !!

Sorry, read "as with most famous duos/groups " for
my statement "as with most famous duos ". Apologize
for the error....

King of light music (mellisai mannar). His tunes are very pleasant for night listening!..The detailing in every song ......wow.Unforgettable.He lives for ever!.
