I have a 10 year old Musical fidelity xray v3 player. I love this player for its sound and its small form factor and have been using it on and off. Lately it has begun to exhibit issues of not reading some discs so I suspect the laser assembly has to be replaced.
I have found out that the laser assembly mechanism is a Phillips one and is available from Amazon uk as well as other sources for about $20 plus shipping. Here is my question, being technically challenged especially with electronics.
1. How easy or difficult is it to change the above laser mechanism? Will any soldering be required?
2. Any recommendations for technicians - preferably in hyd., I can ship to Bangalore/Chennai as well.
I have gotten rid of all of my cd players, but I really love this unit, so for a small outlay I would like to get it fixed and to keep it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Sid
