my home theatre doesn't work

hey friends,
I have a LG LCD TV and just got a philips 5.1 home theatre. but my tv supports optical digital audio output and my speakers are compatible only with stereo outputs. i managed to find and buy a cable from ebay with one end having a digital output and the other a stereo one. but the speakers still don't work. i want sound from both my speakers as well tv. please help me out.:sad:

Check whether your TV has audio line out or headphone out; most TVs do have. Connect the line out to your amp using a normal RCA cable.
