Hi all i am suresh and i live in pondicherry . i like high quality audio and i am basically an electronic engineer . i have been building amplifier for a long time . i started with STK459 then went to elektor cresendo and many .

Recently i bought MAYA amplifier modules from HUGH DEAN from melbourne australia . i built the amplifier in a case . here i am attaching the photos. i like the sound of the amplifier very much . i have very unique design approach and it is tuned to produce more even order harmonics and very less odd order . so it will sound like tube amplifier. it is a class ab with out crossover distortion .

Regards,
R.Suresh.

Hi Suresh: are you saying you changed components from Hugh's pre-stuffed board to achieve "more even order harmonics and very less odd order "? Also, what "crossover distortion"?

Looks very tidy, did you actually build the case yourself or with a fabricator?
i did it with a fabricator . it is a 3mm aluminium plate bent and all sides single piece .
thank you for your kind appreciation

thank you all for the greetings .

though i am an electronic engineer i have no design experience . but i understand the design very well. hugh has more than 25 year's experience and it cant be matched .i did not modify anthing in the module . since i understood the the design i said so . this is a unique amplifier input stage / vas stage / output stage all are very fast . and more over there is no phase inversion from input to output . apart from this there is no Cdom (lag compensation capacitor) . it has very few active components . only 8 transistors .any way all it matters is the sound quality .
i joined here for knowing people who are interested in audio . all members are welcome to pondicherry if you are interested for audition .

thanks and regards,
suresh.

i own a company and i do job work from these fabrication people . labor is free for me but all the material is in stock bought by my company . so didn't calculate the cost.

Greetings! I built Hugh Dean's AKSA with Nirvana upgradeal many years ago, 55 wpc.

i have been following hugh dean from 2006 . aksa55 kit is very popular at that time. then hugh started new design to improving the sound quality . he introduced lifeforce55 , lifeforce-2 , soorya , naksa70 ,maya1, naksa80 ,maya2,saksa85 . this is his journey and every amplifier is bit of refinement from the previous one . now his flagship is maya200 which i own . he has put in all that he learned from his 25 year journey into audio design in maya amplifier and it is his current flagship amplifier.

Hi Suresh
Have heard about the aksa Kits a lot

As all have requested please do post the specs of the amp, price of the kit and the speakers connected to it

Aksa site does not have any info and the owner himself has written that he has not updated since it's selling as it is and he is not good with building websites

Thanks in advance

I have built my speaker using usher audio Taiwan
2 way bookshelf using 8945 and 9950-20 . It is a scanspeak copy using same supplier kurtmuller from Germany. Maya is 200watts into 8 ohms mono block amplifier. Current I own a cowon j3 as source . Planning to build rasberry pi dac in near feature.

Suresh.

I have been following Hugh Dean's kit and products for a long time now. He is also active on diyaudio and seems to have contributed a lot to amplifier discussions there. I am planning to buy the saksa 85. Well you have a better kit than that, enjoy.

go ahead . i am sure you will love the sound of saksa85. i have read almost all his technical contributions in diyaudio. all his amplifiers employ nested feedback which will present the 3D soundstage very well (i mean width + depth ). you are located in pune but any one who wants to hear it are always welcome to pondicherry to have a listening session .

Excellent build. Looks very neat, and I like the idea of a clear glass/acrylic top allowing one to see the internals of the amplifier. Reminds me a bit of ferrari and lamborgini cars where you can see the back mounted engines.

Do you have a pre-amplifier in your chain, or is your source also doubling up as a pre-amp?

Once again, great build.

best,
apk
