Bought 10.6 from Vector Systems Bangalore. got 15% discount on MRP.
10.6 Towers, 10DFS Sourround, 10CS Center.
Had bought Denon 891 / 2311 and Infinity 312 sub from US already.

Took DAC 14/16 cables from Vector. Interconnects [HDMI, Digi Coax, Component, Optical Digital] bought from US.

This completed my 5.1 set up. Installation was done couple of days back.

Buying Experience -
was great with Vector. I visited them 3 / 4 times. every time they were courteous and interested. Delviery was couple of days ahead. Overall a nice experience.

How do the speakers sound.
AVR was set up manually by Vector folks not through Audyssey. So my current set up is NOT using Audyssey EQ.

Movie
Saw U571 movie as soon as the installation was done. It was a theater experience. My living room came alive. it was as good as i heard in demo room. Dialogues were sharp, sounds of the sea waves were reproduced so well by the surrounds, depth charging scene was wonderful with SW reproducing it so very well. overall i am happy. :clapping:

Music
I played Black eyed peas, lady gaga. I liked what front towers produced. I could listen to the whole range. Bass effect from towers was great.
Played many semiclassical Kannada songs, it was awesome. overall i am a happy man. :clapping:

But bass effect was almost nill from SW when listening to music. Interestingly when i play it in 5.1 then bass from SW is great. But in stero mode bass effect is very low.

I tweaked bass parameters and set it as below -
Bass - LFE [not LFE + main]
All speakers set to SMALL
xover - All - 80Hz
SW gain level in AVR = -3db

I read that any frequency below 80Hz is directionless for human ears and hence can be fed to SW whose location in turn can be more flexible. interesting learning for me. Beginner you see :D

Even this did not improve Bass out put from infinity SW. Then I realized that i was listening in DIRECT mode. Once i changed it to Stereo - SW came alive. :ohyeah:

However, i a plan on checking the channel level that AVR sets for SW when I run audyssey. Plan on running audyssey using tripod and at 6 locations. Then i can see how speakers sound with Multi EQ. Then I Can explore Dynamic Volume feature also.

Would like suggestions on Audyssey EQ and how does it impact sound.

so long I am happy with Wharfy 10.6 and the package.

Will update you after some more tweaks and burnin

Cheers

Congrats on the purchase. Even My Onkyo does not use the SW in stereo mode. Its usually the two Fronts (2.0). If you want to use the SW in stereo mode, you might have to use the Line level inputs instead of Pre-out. May be that's the case with your Denon as well.

Congrats & nice review.
To check SW working, you can reduce the sub volume while playing the song.If you miss deep Bass, sub is actually working.

Congrats, How much it costed

Wharfdale 10.6 , 10DFS and CS - these costed 57K

Amp and SW and interconnects, I bought from US which costed me 35K. I would say i saved about 40K by this.

Stepdown 1.5 kva maximo - 3575 , servo Stabilizer 2kva - 6100. cables about 5K

so overall costed 1.2 lacs.

Cheers

no Stereo mode in denon 2311 that i am using does use SW. Direct mode doesn't

Hey, needed tonknow something, weren't you caught at customs while procuring the avr and sw from US. Wanted to know coz my sis is getting a denon1911 for me. Also didn't the subwoofer get kind of heavy , to be procured from US.

Three of my relatives were flying buisness class. Hence weight was not a problem as they could carry three piece of luggage each. Both AVR and SW were chekced in its original package.

Customs would not be a problem if value is around 25K and we have invoice. In my case also as the value of both together was only 33K it was just fine.

For most weight will be a bigger problem than customs.

When you play music, the AVR resets itself into a 2.0 mode. In this mode there is no signal (the Point 1) going to the subwoofer. You will not hear anything from the subwoofer as it is not working at all.

That's a great sounding setup you have.
Congrats on the whole setup.
Nice to know you are enjoying the Wharf 10.
Its on my buy list. Aren't the surrounds bit huge ?

Please post a picture of your setup.
And individual price of the wharfs. thanks

Hi all, I'm from Singapore , was reading abt Wharfedale Diamonds, I'm running the Diamonds 10.6. 10CM center DFS 10 PC 12 cube SW hooked u to a Onkyo Tx- Nr 809 mainly for movies , it's a really good sounding setup , will recommend it always .

Hi
music is generally recorded in 2.0 mode so AVR ( Denon ) will not output signal to Subwoofer since there is no dedicated .1 channel.
But in Bass Settings if mode is done to LFE + main then AVR will filter frequencies ( as set in crossover frequency) from Front/Centre/Suround Speakers to SW.
I did this and only then saw SW performing in not only in music but also any movie recorded in stereo mode.
I found that most ripped movies downloaded from net are downgraded to 2.0 mode as against original 5.1 or higher. If your source media has dedicated LFE channel then mode should be LFE in bass settings.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
