I have a new Wharfedale Subwoofer purchased in the recent group buy. Today I connected it after a few weeks for a listening session and it was working fine till I had to attend a call and paused the music. In a few moments I heard a low frequency hum from the sub. I restarted the music but the sub is dead. No smoke, no fire, no fuses blown switch on light is OK and I can hear the speaker protection relay click so am sure the power supply is OK.

Who provides service for Wharfedale in India! Kindly help.

Congratulations!! Please provide a review of the SQ of the Hum ...

Oops! Sorry for the knee-jerk reflex audiophile joke... when your BP and tenshun is so high over a broken gear. But I am confident it will be resolved without a serious loss or inconvenience to you. :)

I am 100% sure that the culprit is a bad transistor. Now I have 2 options buy the output transistors and replace them myself. Or call designer audio. The problem with getting the sub repaired is to send the sub to the service center which you know will take time money and more importantly cosmetic damage of the unit. So what do you suggest?

Why don't you give the designer audio chaps a call & find out if they can help you rectify the prob in your city itself??? I know its a disturbing thing to happen but you need to remain calm before doing anything like opening the sub yourself & such. I know you are comfortable doing so but feel you shouldn't jump the gun yet! Call designer audio first.

Was there any voltage fluctuation at that time? Did you run through the troubleshooting tips as given in the manual?

Warranty will be there, check it out. HFV doesn't take responsibilities for sale, since it was sold directly by the distributor and they are placing only advts.

Inform the seller/distributor who sent you the same and wait for their reply, do not try to open or take to the local chaps, it will void warranty.

Informed the seller. Responded immediately. A great beginning for a RMA. Followed troubleshooting advice. A dead drive unit (shorted voice coil). What intrigues me was the sub died with no input signal all of a sudden on Diwali night. Seller told me that he will respond on Saturday. Hope everything runs fine on this brand new unit.
