Wow... had started a thread on tape head cleaners and stuff and stumbled upon your thread. Impressive work Santosh @mpasanthosh .

If I get hold of my old Kenwood Deck that should be in my father's place in India I will surely take advise from you to restore it. right now a 20 year old Yamaha is playing in front of me.

I recently recorded an Indian classical CD track featuring Balamurali Krishna and Zakir Hussain on a Maxell XL II on my BX 300 - the deck is optimized for BX 300. My kid has much better hearing than me and is my calibrator for small adjustments in equipment placements. She could not make out any difference between tape and recorded and soon lost track of which one i was switching to as I rapidly switched back and forth. The source was my Marantz SA10 CD Player and I was playing off a memory stick. Truly a magnificent machine, punching well above its weight.
