I have been browsing this forum regularly and I must say that people do get quality response for there questions and its a great community. I am glad to be part of this community.

:)

After researching a lot on this forum my feeling is that HTIB's are not that good especially when it comes to music. I did lot of research on Onkyo 3300 which I think is one of the best HTIB available (looking at the price and comparing with other HTIB's in market), however my finding says that it does not sound that great when it comes to music.

I must say that I need both the features : music and good surround sound effects. My preferences are watching music videos as compare to listening to mp3's. I am trying to be future proof and I feel that HDMI input port is a must because if I purchase XBOX/Bluray Player in future then receiver will be able to decode formats like DTS HD, Dolby HD...

Here is my usage:

Audio: 30%, Rock/Soft rock mostly mp3
Music Videos : 30% (mostly divx format) [Recently bought WD live and enjoying youtube on that]
Movies : 30%
Gaming : 10%

Room Size : 16 * 16 ft (Might change as I stay in rented house)
Budget : 30k
Preferences : New amplifier with HDMI Input

I understand that my budget is low but I can compromise by doing a step by step upgrade.

Looking forward for opinions from expert on this, your suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks,
Sumit

If you have searched this forum well, you will understand what you are asking for is impossible. To get an AVR that can decode HD Audio and speakers for around 30K is not possible. An AVR itself will cost around 25K at the entry level. Speakers at 5K will be very poor quality.

If you need to go the separates way, look for a budget of 1.5 lakhs at the minimum. Otherwise look for an HTiB.

If you are interested in music more, look for two channel amplifiers and bookshelf speakers. Many members use that even for movies and are quiet happy.

Cheers

Thanks Venkat.

The only workaround I can think of is to buy Onkyo 3300 (~24k) and later buy Jamo S 406 5.0 speaker (~21k)

I am expecting even if I sell or don't buy the Onkyo 3300 speakers I will save 5k. Which will bring down my budget to ~40K

Onkyo 3300 does support HD Decoding.

What do you think of this combination?

Thanks,
Sumit

you can search for yamaha 465 AVR..
It supports HD audio decoding..
price for new is INR ~18K with bill and warranty (lowest that I heard)..

you may look for used speaker set or even a used HDMI-AVR if your are short on budget..
