Hi,
I am from Delhi & I have been thinking of buying a decent stereo set up for myself for years and I have now finally thought of fulfilling my wish early next year. I basically listen to sufi, soft rock, classical based songs and at times latest hindi numbers.

I have narrowed down to the following:-
Speakers - Wharfedale 9.6
Amplifier - Marantz PM6003
Source - Will buy a decent DVD player for the time being and later add a dedicated CD player.

As I stay in a appartment so listening loud may not be possible except occasionally (sat nights).

I wanted to ask you all experienced people if my selection is ok, will I be able to get the same clarity in music with the ampliefier I have closen or should I look for a more powerful amplifier. My budget is around 75K max all inclusive.

I also auditioned Sonodyne and I liked it, much cheaper in budget comparitively but post wharfies 9.6 audition, I do not want any other speaker than this.

Please help & guide me to build up a suitable stereo set up.

Thanks,
Anugrah

I think the Wharfedale 9.5 would be more than enough suit your room size and for intended volume levels. Spend the remaining money on a future proofing your setup a bit more.

Hi Anuragh,

Welcome to the forum.
For your kind of Music you should also try NAD C326 BEE and PSB Image T5 Combo.
Or you could also up try NAD 355 BEE and Imagine B combo.
You can audition both these at our Delhi showroom located at Lajpat Nagar 2.

Ashish

Thanks everyone for your suggestions..... I had the oppertunity to meet Ashish for an Audition at Lajpat Nagar.

Extremely helpful and made sure that I am answered for all my queries. As I had already thought of Wharfies 9.6 and was looking for a powerful Int AMP from NAD to power these power hungry speakers,Ashish offered me the demo for PSB Image series (T5 & T6).

I like T6 more since T5 was lacking a little bass and the kind of music I listen (sufi, Ghazals etc) I wanted a bit of depth and T5 were able to deliver them to my satisfaction completely.

We played tracks like "O re Piya" by Rahet Fateh Ali, "Two Steps Behind", DefLeppard, "Mora Naihar Chootae Jiye", classical song by Jagjeet Singh (intension was to test speaker on producing the vocals clearly). The T6 were able to perform great on mid & highs, bass was tight and overall sound was very room filling. I closed my eyes and could feed the instrument playing infront of me.

Though these speaker are almost double the cost of wharfies 9.6 so I still have to think on this.

NAD C355BEE, was excellent, very warm and I am now sure that whatever speaker I may choose but this would be my AMP.

The above experiance is pretty much mine and as I am very new to this world so other may have difference of opinion.

Ashish is a great host and make the overall auditionining experiance remarkable. :-)

take a listen to bookshelves in that same price range. i guess your budget on the speakers is about 40k odd. listen to the monitor audio rx2. sq will be much better imo

why don't you audition the dali lektor 6, its got nice mids and airy treble, will suit vocals, also it is around your budget, also audition the Mordaunt short Aviano 6 i found them to be very good with vocals and have good bass.
