Yes. You can use those speakers with AVR provided taht they do not have proprietary conectors for speaker wire. What is your budget for AVR?

What are proprietary connectors? I also have old AIWA hifi system speakers, they are 3 way speakers and on the back of the speakers it says main speakers impedence 6 ohms and surround speakers impedence 8 ohms and there are two set of wires coming out of the speakers. Wanted to use these speakers as surrounds with Yamaha 473....
Can i use them???? if yes then how to connect them with my AVR. please help me guys

@Abhijeet, are the wires detachable or they are fixed? If detachable, how to you attach them to speakers? If attached, what do they have at other end or they are just bear wires at the end? Propiratary connectors mean that the end are made such that they can be connected to components of particular brand only. This was common with mobiles, and is till seen with brands like sony. If they are there, you need to cut wires to make usable which I won't advice if you are not sure about what you will be doing. If possible ,post some pictures. Of ends of the wires.

You can use the speakers with avr. Just cut th wire to remove the pin. Are there two wires going into the speaker in first image?

The surround wire is for connecting to another speaker, right? So it should not be used for connecting to avr. Connect the other wire of the speaker (which you connect to aiwa amp) to avr.

If possible open the speaker cabinet and see how the cables are connected to the speakers. Probably there will be two speakers for each wire.
