My sony home theatre's avr motherboard died. Getting it repaired is turning out to be costly (7k approx) especially when keeping in mind that there's no guarantee if the repaired motherboard will last a meaningful time. I am more inclined to buy a new avr but have got no idea what specs to search for. Model of my home theatre is DAV DZ510. It would be really great if I could get some recommendations.

If you buy a new AVR, then it will cost much more than repair cost. Secondly Subwoofer is passive, so need external amp for it. Yes used AVR is another option but it can give you trouble as well. If authorized Sony center is repairing for 7k with some warranty, then it's worth, else need to build entire setup for lot.

Also, Sony’s speakers are 3 ohms as far as I know. An AVR requires anything above 4 ohms.
