Hi friends.
I am new here and its my first post at here. I came to know about HiFivision on an another popular automotive forum and started following it since then and gained lot of knowledge.
I've been regularly noticing lot of friends here from that automotive forums
Now let's come to the topic....
Projector:
I've decided to buy Benq GP2 LED projector (Obviously decided after reading a lot about projectors at HiFIVision).
Question is, how is the decision? I usually watch movies in the night with lights off. If I mount the projector on a tripod, I get clear 8' of length between screen and projector in my 15'X11' room.
Is there any other projector, especially any true 3D projector worth considering in this price range? I am getting it at around 35K at a local Benq store. Have also went for a demo and found the image quality and resolution really good considering the low price point. I would also use this projector as my portable presentation tool.
Screen
Here comes the problem. My center speaker is placed at some 8'-9' of height on a shelf. My initial plan was to go for a ceiling mounted screen for aesthetic regions. If I go by this route, the screen will be around 24" to 28" away form the center speaker and the speaker would be hidden behind the screen. This is surely a problem.
I am on a tight (rather tightest possible) budget when talking about the screen. The projector seller quoted some 6.5K for a manual folding ceiling mounted screen. A dedicated screen seems better choice considering the projector is a LED type with just 200 lumens max.
There is no suitable wall in my HT room-cum-studio wall so screen is the only option. Since it is my work studio as well, I will also have to maintain aesthetics from interiors point of view and would not be able to move the center speaker form it's position.
How about making some tinny holes in the regular screen in front of center speaker? Would these holes distract the movie watching experience?
After digging a lot, another option arises is the tripod screen so that some space can be left over the screen to clear the path for center speaker, but the bottom of the screen may become too low. I want atleast 8' wide screen which would be watched from some 10' distance.
Suggestion awaited.
