This was interesting, thought I will post it here. How many backers would we have?

TBH, though I'm a huge kickstarter fan, I think I'm going to wait and watch when it comes to hardware campaigns - the general impression is that they rarely meet their timelines (delays of 1-2 years are not unheard of) and the quality that they finally offer gets diluted as well. This was interesting, thought I will post it here. 24/96 makes a difference ? isnt redbook enough ? These are arguments that will continue till the cow comes home..like cables hence irrelevant. There is hype everywhere !! I like the positive hype for a change![]()
I kinda like the fact that higher definition playback (than mp3s) on mobile players is getting adequate publicity because of all the hype and promotion by these musicians.
I'm glad I'm not alone in choosing those exact words.Hype hype hype!
There are much higher caliber "Audiophile media players" designed by the Chinese. They use premium components all through and some even have excellent measured performance well above other established players on the market. Too bad they haven't caught fascination of portable music fans.
This is part of the porno problem. They are selling us the whole deal, and the 192-rave is a part of it. I agree that we can separate that out, if it turns out to be a good piece of kit. But they wouldn't want us too...I understand a lot of the backlash is regarding the whole concept of "hi-res" files being essential to the music listening experience (which I agree with, I'm quite happy with my 16/44.1 FLACs), but a lot of the criticism is not really relevant to the player in question. It'd be great if people started distinguishing between the two and directing their well-justified cynicism towards the "high-res files and related web store" and be more open-minded about the player, which does seem good on paper so far.
(my bold)Is PonoMusic a new audio format? What about PonoMusic quality?
No. We want to be very clear that PonoMusic is not a new audio file format or standard. It is an end-to-end ecosystem for music lovers to get access to and enjoy their favorite music in the highest resolution possible for that song or album. The music in the PonoMusic.com store is sold and downloaded in industry standard audio file formats. .... ... ...

I'm interested to hear that too!! AFAIK, there is none. Nothing that has the cachet of a well-known DAC like ESS9018/WM8471/PCM1704UK, with 128GB storage and a decent UI not designed by 1st year graphics design studentsPlease name some names. I was not aware of such options, save for Hifiman. I am not that into portable media players but would still love to know the options.
