when the second plate amp on my previous sub gave up due to power voltage fluctuations, i decided to go in for passive sub with external rack power amplifier. bought the behringer nu3000dsp from amazon.uk. and since i now had 2 channels available i decided to go for a 2 sub setup. my previous sub was also a diy sub with dayton 12" RSS315 hf4 . so decided on the latest offering from dayton the ultimax series and ordered the 12 inch model. shipping would have been very costly with additional customs too, luckily my cousin had gone to the usa to attend a wedding and was due to return in a week or so, so got them delivered to his address with free shipping from parts express, along with mounting hardware. he had no other baggage so there wasn't any duty and i got them for the advertised price.
win isd gave me an enclosure of 7.017cu.ft for a sealed box. so decided on a cube measuring 24". 3/4"mdf with an extra layer for the front. used about 700gms of polyfill from a single pillow. almost done. only needs painting and i prefer a matte black and the painter is due to come on monday. decided to have handles fixed on either side as the whole thing was so heavy and moving it would be a hassle otherwise.
sounds great , but have yet to calibrate the two sub setup and apply room equalization, once the paint job is done.

have uploaded pix of the finished sub

Cube is the last shape one would want his speaker enclosure to be. Good to know that it is sounding great for you.

One thing I would like ask you, why sealed, why not ported? It is common practice to make ported sub for movies atleast.

true for other speakers, but not really for subwoofers. went with sealed for ease of building, tighter bass and with the dsp in behringer nu3000dsp i can go down to around 20hz which i think is good enough for me atleast.

Congratulations. How does it sound once finished?

thank you. havent had a chance to watch a movie since setting the finished sub. and havent had a chance to test the frequency responses of the subs.
need to still do equalization etc.

too busy at work for any thing else.

I usually buy from partsexpress.com, rather my son buys them for me and they are carried as personal baggage by the next member of our family coming to india. usually someone is coming from usa or returning from a trip to usa every alternate month. so i have a network of carriers. my son buys them whenever they are on sale and holds them with him. i bought both the subs like that as well as the plate amplifier. got the 12inch rss3154hf some three or four years ago and the ultramax recently a month back. But in case of the amplifiers i bought the original 2 plate amps from partsexpress, but seeing them fail because of voltage problems(eventhough they are both 120v and 22ov) i decided to go with an external amplifier and bought the behringernu3000dsp from amazon.uk.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
