Norge Phono Pre-Amp

my father in law has a Philips 242 for which i found some stylii with Pandurang in Mumbai. but he has no amp with a phono stage. i was thinking of buying him the Norge Phono Pre-Amp. his set up if at all would be very basic ... a Sony home theatre system which i think he can hook up the Philips 242 using the Norge. the most important thing for him is to play the records he has. nothing more than that. does anyone have an idea if the Norge is decent and will do a nice job of it?

For Philips 242, Norge is an excellent amp.

Look at other brands as well....if open to pre owned quite a lot being sold on olx mumbai
