Depends...
Hi,

Just ran into this. I don't mean to offend anyone. It just makes for interesting reading and some of these reasons were given to me by a friend who insisted on my picking up a HT System without a combi DVD/AVR.

Evils of HTIB

Very interesting and factual article indeed. One thing to do is to get a good receiver, which is future proof, and go with a decent set of 5.1 speakers. Then slowly build your system by acquiring the speakers in phases.

Good article.

People dont fall for the marketing. If you cannot afford a full fledged HT in one step take baby steps. Get a receiver, invest in 2 speakers initially and move further from there.

Spend your money smartly once rather than foolishly many times upgrading again and again.

Understanding what one needs from the HT is important. The other important thing is to have patience and take time to research and experience what one is set to buy. This is not definitely vegetables that you are buying, but more like a decision to get married :).
