I am travelling to India and staying in Delhi for a few days.
Does anyone know of a place/person selling vintage old LP for reasonable price.
I have a few already of old Indian movies etc, passed on from my uncle. Was thinking of adding to the collection, since the CDs for these things sound worse than records many times.

Anyone have any sources/ideas/thoughts?

You may get in touch with Denom in this forum.
He is from Navi Mumbai and selling off a huge list of old Hindi LPs.
Discuss the logistics part with him.

hi.
ashishkesharwani on forum from lakozy electronics had some vinyls for his showroom display. also saurabh.they may guide you about delhi lp sellers, the footpathwallahs kind.
jitendra from mumbai (contact details in this forum) is one gentleman i d recommend as his vinyl prices are usually not hefty. though he may try to milk you a bit but not as much as delhi guys have made there repute to me.
i have a huge collection of vinyls myself and was almost selling a few of them but then i realized i d be better off keeping the great titles with myself and that left very little titles that i am okay parting with.
if its a big bunch you want for bit lower prices, i know of a few ex-recording guys who have a few thousand titles stowed in their attics that may come in good condition and cheap too if we take like 100-200 titles.(this applies to other members too. i d be happy to usher these discs to those who treasure them.)
further, right now i have already promised a fellow member from bangy to get a few titlesfor him. when will you be in delhi??
cheers.

Shah Music in Dariya Ganj is the place to visit if you are looking for LPs.

Shah Music, Meena Bazar, Shop No. 256 - costly but large collection,. Bang opposite is Yaseenbhai, Shop No 52. Cheaper, lesser numbers. Also one more at junction of Chandni Chowk - large number of titles, costly.

You can also contact Mr. Anuj Rajpal of New Gramophone house in Chandni Chowk @ 9810955557, he has a good collection of Records with him.

I would love to know about the places too. Yeah, can some one tell how much costly?

There was time when they used to sell for some Rs/KG in Chor Bazaar. :licklips: :p Good old days!

Yes ....New Gramophone House is one of the best place to start with....in Ch.Chowk...I mean its more systematic ....you can sit and browse through easily...and as far as prices are concern...they are moderate....rest depends what you have selected.
