Hi,

I order the combination "Onkyo 509 + JBL Northridge E 80" from amazon.com.

But I'm not sure whether these JBL 80 floorspeakers will work with ONkyo 509.
As of now, i'm just want to have only two floorspeakers and no subwoofer or surrond sound speaker.

Can somebody please give some inputs, so that i can either return them or keep them?

Thanks,
Sandeep Nagar

are all the knowledgeable persons so busy not to reply :sad:.
please let me know whether onkyo 509 (110 watts per channel at 6 ohms) will support two 200 watts jbl northridge e 80 floorstanding speakers, else i'll return them.

The AVR will support the floorstanders, but can't comment how the combo will sound. Why did you order it from amazon?

Can someone comment, what's the maximum wattage speakers I can plug in to my onkyo 509 receiver. I already purchased, jbl northridge e 80 floorstanding front speakers. Each speaker is 100 watt. will it be possible for me in future to add jbl e 20 100 watts as surround sound speakers and JBL ES 250 P subwoofer Singles?
Please comment as soon as possible, cause I'll be receiving my JBL e 80 floorstanding speakers on tuesday if this combination wont work then I'll return the speakers and get smaller one.

I havn't any response, let's see if no one comments in a day, I'll leave this forum

Thanks for listening to me :)

AVR Onkyo NR509:
80 watts minimum continuous power per channel at 8 ohms loads.
//2 channels driven from 20 Hz to 20 kHz

Single JBL northridge e 80 speaker:
There are two things here:
1) Max Recommended Amplifier power -> 200W
2) Power Handling continuous/peak -> 100W/400W at 8 ohms

Can you please soon, as the shipment will be delivering tommorow, so if things doesn't work out, then I can return the shipment there itself.

Thanks alot.

What Baiju is trying to tell is that as far as equipment safety and volume level for usual listening conditions in home are concerned, you can connect the AVR To the speakers without being worried.

However whether you will like the sound or no is a different issue which only you can answer and that too only after listening to the combo.

Next time when you make a purchase,make it a point to do audition before spending your hard earned money. In addition, seek help in advance from the forum. 'Patience' is the key to success .

When you listen to the combo,please dont jump to conclusions. There are few things like speaker break in,placement,AVR Fine tuning etc. So you need to give some time to the equipment. Besides there are other factors like audio quality of the source and recorded material as well as room acoustics.

Just to allay your anxiety, you can drive those speakers with a 30w amp also. The difference between a 30w and 100w and 200w amp will be 1)the maximum volume level attained and 2)the volume level at which distortion is introduced.

Thanks Baiju & Jaudere,

Emotional backmail worked ;)
So in future I can upgrade my home theater with good surround sound speakers and with a decent subwoofer, I hope this big jbl floorstander would not steal power from their channels (I'm a newbie, so dont mind my queries).
