Hi,

I would like to know if I can pair Onkyo 609 with Diamond 9.6 front. I use the receiver for 70% music and rest movies.

I plan to connect the speakers to zone 2 where I can use it for listening music. For movies I plan to use the 5.1 connection with a different set of speakers.

I plan to buy the speaker from vector systems bangalore. I'm setting up a AV receiver for the 1st time. I hope V-guard stabiliser is good enough.

pls provide your inputs. I have auditioned vardus 400 and its out of race. I like the 9.6 effect, but doesn't like the slugish response. Now I have to decide among following diamond 9.5/9.6/10.6

Yes you can use the 9.6 with your Onkyo NR 609

What did you mean by " you did not like the 9.6 Sluggish response "

9.5/ 9/6/10.6 are all good speakers it all boils down what your EAR likes at the end of the day.

hi have u purchased the 609
if yes how would u rate it
and what was the price
i planning on purchasing the 608

Both 608 and 609 are very good receivers , Both of them has the same 100wpc @ 8ohms. Trust me, find speakers with @ 8ohms. And offcourse it depends on your personal preference and Budget.

I tried something different with my Onkyo NR609

I paired my Onkyo NR609 with Jamo s426 speakers (2 towers, 2 surr, and one cen) and a Wharf sub (VR- Sub 10)

I should say one thing, I am highly satisfied with that receiver, and the pairing. Onkyo to my mind is one of the most future rich receivers available on the shelf, with amazing connectivity options.

Cheers

^^ How much is the receiver costing now? I am opting for the 609 as HT RC360 was out of stock!

I have personally heard the 609 and got a chance to fiddle with it and it is pretty decent

Pair it up with good speakers and you've got a winner for Movies.

I totally agree with jainakshay "Onkyo to my mind is one of the most future rich receivers available on the shelf, with amazing connectivity options. " very good VFM.
However there are a lot of other brands in the similar price bracket which you should take a look at as well.

Here is my initial feedback on Onkyo 609

Always stands next to yamaha. comparing Onkyo & yamaha is like comparing BMW & Merc's cars, still don't know which is Merc and BMW.

Onkyo 609 is good for movies, preferred less for Music lovers. Its like a Burger with loads of stuff(features) but lacks a natural taste. Whereas yamaha is like bread with a jam & cheese alone which gives(may) you the taste you like.
but yamaha is always pricey and if you can afford for it, go & get it before its too late. I prefer 80%music & 20%movies.

here is my setup(still I'm trying to figureout the best).
Zone1(5.1ch) is connected with jamo 5.1 A102HCS through 16gauge cable & Zone 2 is connected to diamond 9.6 front through 14gauge cable. diamond 9.6 is a fine piece of front speaker I have seen which scores better than diamond 9.5. The AVR is connected to spike buster which is connected to V-guard voltage stabiliser which is connected to AC main outlet.

here is my overall rating:
Onkyo - 3 out of 5
Yamaha - 4 out of 5 (where 1 being least & 5 being best).

At times during low volumes, diamond 9.6 response towards handling high frequencies are poor where as the BASS function is clear. When I auditioned diamond 9.5 with 9.6 the response was viceversa. I can able to get clear bass handling only at high volumes in 9.5.

As per the diamond 9.6 manual, these speakers can also be used with 8ohm setting in receiver. So may I can enjoy the 8ohm advantage.

Had auditioned both Yamaha RX-V1067 and Onkyo TX-NR609 alongside and found Yamaha better for movies and Onkyo better for music.

Onkyo 609: Zone1 to 5.1ch and Zone 2 to diamond 9.6

Hi All!

I tried to use my Onkyo 609 AVR for listening music with my diamond 9.6 connected to Zone2 and Jamo HCS A102 to 5.1channel zone 1 to watch movies. But I can see there is a serious lag in performance when I used Zone2 as compared to Zone1 with diamond 9.6.

Can some one tell me the limitations of listening to audio in Zone2? I use HDMI for Zone1 and RCA cable(analog) for zone2 as specified in user manual.
