Onkyo SR-308 OR Denon 1611

Frinds pls. suggest which will be a better receiver ONKYO SR308 or Denon 1611. Got offer for ONKYO 308 for 22500/- and Denon 1611 for 24500/-
 
did u visit the metropolitan mall in ggn...? which speakers r u planning to buy..? i would suggest denon.. thinking of buying it myself..
 
I would get the Denon for the Audyssey room correction and 7.1 capability.
 
I will recommend Denon 1611. It has Audessey MultEQ, HDMI upconversion, OSD function and is upgradeable to 7.1. Also Denon sounds better for music.

I have already visited Metro mall GGn but he is offering 1611 for 25K+, however I got 24500/- offer from Bass Trebble and Denon distributor.

For speakers, I planning wharf 9.2 and Onky sub SKW 208

Pls. comment your experience.
 
In case your budget for speakers is more, try to go for a 5.1, like polk rm6750 but they are satellites.
 
Well i went to bass n treble today.. auditioned the denon 1611 and polk rm6750..
the guy played fast and furious.. saw 10 minutes into the movie.. was not impressed by the sound..
anyways still took the quote from him.. he said 45k for the set..
1500 for the installation. and depending on the wire which we choose the entire package would go upto 50+ .. did not sound worth the price at all...
well thats my opinion...
 
I would like to follow your thread, am myself in a soup! Budget is max 50k. My wife liked Denon 1611 + Boston acoustics satellites, but the price quoted for the combo (we demoed it in MGF mall gurgaon) was 32k for 1611 and 35k for speaker set.

Then we demoed Onkyo 3400 again, but again we didnt like it. We demoed Onkyo 308 + Pure Acquostics satellites which we found better than onkyo 3400, the price quoted for it was 46k by the showroom owner. But I read somewhere that the price quoted to others is around 39k, so am confused if I have been given the wrong price.

Personally though I am much more keen on Denon 1611. It is 5.1, but it has 2 pre-outs for adding 2 more speakers to make it 7.1. Not to forget the audeyssey advanced calibration. Now the problem with this is I didnt like Polk RM 6750 with it....so am confused if I will get a decent setup within 50k.

I just googled SKS 728, and noticed its got tower speakers. My room is too small (sorry, should have mentioned that before) for tower speakers, so it has to be satellites :)!

Demoed ETC 5.1 at Snorkel's place on saturday (Thanks a lot Vinay....you are an awesome guy...thanks a lot for your help). The speakers are awesome....loved them. Now the problem is 'where to buy them from' :lol:. I tried the reliance digital showrooms in Gurgaon and Vasant Kunj ambience malls, but neither had it in stock :(!
 
Friends, Finaly my setup is ready..... Got Denon-1611 with Wharfedale 9.2, 9CS and 9 DFS along with Onkyo Sub SKW-208 and SONY BD-370 player.
Enjoyed "Eagle live concert" on original DVD... its really rocking.
