Open ended subwoofer cables

Hello Guys,

I am looking for open ended wires for my sub woofers, currently it has thin wires and I feel that I should upgrade it to get a better sound. The bass is not so deep with those wires. Could some one please suggest me what type I should buy and where I could find some thick cables (low gauge) at a reasonable price in Pune or over ebay.in.

hi buddy,

you can use a co-axial cable to connect sub-woofer to you amp or if you are particular about sub-woofer cable itself you can buy the below one,

I am currently using co-axial cable to connect it to my Denon receiver.

Is your sub a passive or active one? The photograph shows a speaker cable that is used with passive speakers. If that is what you want hundreds of brands are available. Use a 14AWG cable from Belden, DAC, etc and you are all set.

Do you need a 3 wire cable or two wire? My sub for example uses 3 - one pair for L+ and L- and one for R+. This is for speaker level inputs.

Thanks for your replies, my subwoofer is a passive one and I need a two wired cable. Will a thick cable really help me solving my problems? How long should I buy? I have two subwoofers.

When you sub is passive, the same rules that applies to any speaker applies here. A good quality cable will carry signals from your amp without any interference or distortion.

In terms of length, measure the distance between your map and the sub, add 1 meter on both ends for flexibility, and you have the length.

+1 to what Venkat said. Get a 12 or 14 gauge speaker cable and you are set.

I heard monster 14guage speaker cable it is pretty good and widely available.

Thanks everyone.. this will really help me a lot.. I am planning to AV Excellence in Pune and purchase a cable. Any one from Pune knows any better shop here?
