optical cable - how to insert/connect

this is the first time i am using an optical cable.

i got a google chromecast audio and trying to link it to a dac with a toslink to mini toslink cable.

but i am not sure how to connect the optical end of the cable to the dac.

there seems to be a shutter kind of thing covering the optical socket.

Are we supposed to lift the shutter up (with fingernail or pin) and then plug the cable in?

Or are we supposed to push the shutter in with the plug?

I hear optical cables are fragile and so thought i would check before trying anything.

Push the optical cable slowly as per shape in the shutter...the shutter will move....

YouTube will have ample videos to guide you

Match the profile on the connector and the socket and push it in carefully, it will lock in place.
