Hello everyone,

I was looking for anyone who has had a similar problem. the board to which HMDI cables are connected had burnt. The technician who had come has said that the burn was at the HDMI input where tatasky HD+ was connected and even tatasky is not working. There are no other problems and rest of the boards are fine.
My query is : does anyone have an idea of the cost of this board ? the technician said it is called A-Board. he gave a number TNPH0940 A-board.

any information is helpful.

Edit: forgot to add: an egreat media player attached to TV is also conked out :(

did you have a spike travelled via tatasky during thunder/bad whether etc...
chances seems high
anyway exact price of replacement can be known from service centre..
these boards(complete all input pcb) cost in open market is 5k max..but problem is firmware setting to match specific panels..otherwise you could do it yourself

only that hdmi input is not working?? or all hdmi inputs are not working?
you can live also with component connection if dont want to repair as you said all other is working fine..
have you tried other sources than tatasky to ensure the fault..

Hi, thank you for the reply.

The TV was not powering on. the technician said the chip on the board is burnt so the entire board is to be replaced he has taken the board with him. i really hope the cost of replacement is less. everything connected to the TV display board is burnt (tatasky and the media player). he checked the power from the source to the other boards and they are fine. only the A/V input board seems to be fried. a classic case of 5000 Rs device frying a 89000 + 13000 device together

Hi Jpmlore,

You could also check SP Road for the same board by taking the sample.

I am sure you could get a new board programmed for a fraction of the cost or even get the old board fixed if Panasonic quote an unreasonable amount to you. There are techs in SP Road who could put the so called "Service Centre" professional to shame with their talent.

The problem is finding the right person.

Yes, that might be the case. In my locality, two of my neighbhours faced the same problem when there was a heavy thunderstrom on last wednesday night. They had Hathway set-top box connected from the local cable service. I was surprised that two TV sets got their boards fried on the same night.

Generally, I would always recommend to disconnect both the power cable and the dish/set-top box cables during thunder storm.

Hi everyone,

I got a call from the the technicians. They are quoting a price of 15500/- for the board. i am planning to check in SP road and try today. will keep you updated.

Edit: Roamed too many big shops for spare-part but hard luck and then just as i was about to give up, saw a very tiny DVD repair shop who said he might know a person who usually has spares. he came, saw the board and said, he might have it but will confirm if it for 50 inch TV. so fingers crossed. Will let you all know how it works out.

Disappointing News: the guy from SP road said, the board he has are for different panasonic TV. I found a "used" board on ebay and i have purchased it today. It will take around 10-12 days for it to arrive. I keep updating the status of arrival and installation and successful TV operation.:indifferent14:

bad move..how are being sure about the compatibility

I am taking a chance here. I had sent an mail asking for the exact number that of the board. he has sent it to me. It matches with the one that i have (number printed on the board in yellow under a huge heatsink). fingers crossed

Update : a board i ordered was shipped from NZ on 27 and i received it today afternoon. the main chip number is same, rest of the part serial number looks newer and closer comparison shows missing components. keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it will work with my TV else once again will have to sell it on ebay

bad news: the board chip number matches but the contacts on the board does not match. so i am back to square one. i have now contacted my friend on singapore. thats my last effort else i will have to shell out 15500/- to the panasonic guys. what irks me most is that the person who came here said, it will cost around 15000/-. wonder how he knows the price without even checking.
so now, i am with a spare part with no use. i might as well put it up on ebay again

hi Alll,
final update. i had to get the board purchased and installed from the panasonic people itself. had to spend 15K. one thing i found out, the guys did not give me the exact part number. the part number is different. it starts from TXN.
the TNPH0940 is the chip number. i was misled and now i cannot even do anything.
this post is for your info. anyway, have learnt few good lesson last few weeks.
