Panasonic RX-D55 tape sound goes intermittingly.

I have a Panasonic RX-D55 boombox which plays CDs, Cassette tapes and USB drive. CD player and USB port plays fine. But when I play a cassette, the tape keep rolling but the sound goes out and in intermittingly. When the sound goes out, the small LCD stops displaying TAPE and show --:-- and then again show TAPE and sound comes back. It happens a lot sometimes and sometimes tapes plays for a minute and sometimes for a second only.
