I bought an Airtel HD STB sometime in September last year, with the customary free subscription. Not being impressed at all with their service, I have not recharged and was planning to keep it that way until the next big sporting event in HD comes up, like Euro 2012 or Olympics. I was under the assumption that the connection would lie dormant until recharged. But recently I got an SMS from Airtel saying that my account is going to be permanantly disconnected. Anybody else face similar problem? More important, can they actually do it?? In the event that they actually disconnect me, what would be the required action to reactivate it for those rare sporting events broadcast in HD???

as a suggestion all i can say is if you have not used the subscription and using something else...stick with it
no point in airtel. i have 2 connections and using that since over 3 years. wish i had an option to change the services
its really bad so no point. try other DTH guys

Jus delete those stupid automated SMSes.
Make a call to their CC and ask for 'safe custody'.(i.e dormant state)
They grant it for 3 months which can be again extended for another 3 months and so on. My Airtel STB is in safe custody for past 8 months with no extra charge. When you feel like using it again just make a call to thier CC, they will allow to recharge again and use as before.

and i too receive those 'disconnection threat' SMSes..:) as my balance is only Rs.22

You have so many options in Mumbai but?

as luck would have it and to airtels advantage just got a Airtel HD connection for 500rs.

i didnt want to used Airtel but for 500rs its worth is.

now i have 3 Airtel DTH connections

best option is to make them fool.. tell them you are goin out of india for 6 months due for project work due to job contraints and praise them that you really want airtel as you like them.. and u are all set...

write a mail to them that ur out of station and u want it back when ur returning ,they will obviously keep u on hold bcos they wont lose a valuable customer .
