Hi
What would be the most optimum way to hear music from my apps in iPhone (Amazon music/Wynk etc) so that it's transmitted to my receiver ..I am using Arcam AVR600..
Saw lot of Bluetooth devices from Logitech etc listed in Amazon..but was looking for a device using WiFi and will be using a digital connection (coaxial/optical/HDMI) such that I use the dac of my current receiver...budget around 25k..don't want to comprise the current sound of the receiver which is quite good.

Any pointer will be really helpful

Since you already have an iPhone, get Apple TV and use Airplay.

If Bluetooth connectivity is needed, look no further than Wyred4sound bLink.

Thanks ...but how is the sound quality ? There seems to be bit of mixed review

Well that depends on many factors like quality provided my the streaming service; I find gaana good and Spotify better than amazon and gaana in terms of quality.
There is option to cast stored songs via play music and that is best way to stream hifi music to you amplifier. (I use flac n 320mp3)

If the AVR has usb input, then you connect with apple camera connection kit. ( apple to usb out)
If you want wireless, below is the preferred order. Best is #1 in terms of natural sound, even though all involve digital transfer. I have tried all.

1) airport express oldest model of 2004. Hard to get though.
2) apple tv 3rd generation.. note it resamples to 48khz.
3) airport express 3rd gen. This i did not like.
Else you can try airport express 2nd generation.

Through usb, somehow i did not like.
Note, the optical cable will also matter.
If nothing else, you can take the audio out analog from apple. Even that sounds good compared to non-apple phones. If it is ipod, its more better. Even different ipods and diffetent iphones sound different whatever way you output - analogue or digital.

Thanks for those useful suggestions ..I was also looking at Yamaha WXC 50, Arcam Replay and Bluesound Node 2i...First two available in Amazon India listed at 25k and 48k odd...third one not available in India...any inputs on these 3? R these audiophile quality or more of gimmicks ?

Also strangely Google Chromecast Audio is showing out of stock in every shopping portal ...have they discontinued it in India?

Discontinued by Google. Out of production.

HI.. can we play the FLAC/MP3 stored in a NAS (using wifi) through the Google Play music (via Bluetooth to AVR)? Kindly respond.

Not sure if you missed my suggestion or you changed mind but with iPhone, in order to use internal DAC of Arcam, Apple TV is best choice for you. With this you can route audio of everything that you play on your iPhone while with most of the other options you are looking at, you will be restricted to play your own collection. Also keep in mind that Airplay, to me, sounds better than Bluetooth.

I understand that some of the music apps allows you to Chromecast but again, when you have iPhone, why would you like to get into something that will pose some restrictions?

Thanks again...I would surely check Apple TV...if you have used it how would you rate the audio quality ? Or it won't matter as I am using the dac of Arcam and hence would have the same sound signature ? My feeling was it's a decent transport for Audio & Video...but maybe not an audiophile equipment..fact that it resamples everything to 48khz made it bit of a bummer..hence was looking for a specialised audio only streamer...I heard sonus connect ...somehow thought it was a standardized music nothing special as such..

Yes, I am using it and quality is as good as any other wireless arrangement. But, this is an interesting juncture though because the way I judge a piece of equipment does not necessarily have to be same the way you do. So, in this case, based on my experience, though, let us say, there may be difference between Apple TV and Bluesound but I cannot justify the cost difference.

Similarly, on sample rate, 44.1k vs 48k, yes, there is a difference but not necessarily one is better than other. In my system 48k produces slightly sharper image and slightly narrower soundstage.

With my experience/gut feel, I can confidently say that Apple TV is best bet for you and will not deny that if you get opportunity, you will hear the difference (between Apple TV and others) and then comes the cost that is where you have to take the call.

I think it should work, not very sure though (Never tried). I am sure you can use your laptop's bluetooth and play via laptop to AVR (NAS->Laptop->AVR)
