Playlists compatible with various players

Hi guys. I need info on making playlists. Is there any format which runs with all media player softwares and hardwares or at least most of them? Is there any special software in addition to the media players for making these playlists. I am tired of making playlists as I switch the players.

.m3u works with zune and also ipod recognizes it (Regarding ipod i have not used, but read in web)

Though zune has its own format for play lists, I never use it. I create playlist in winamp and keep the same in one folder, which is part of audio sync folder group for my zune. This way I can use same playlist at PC (with winamp) and Zune.
