I was fiddling with speaker connections today when i heard a loud pop from my beloved pm8003 and the a burning smell followed. I shut down my amp and removed all connections. Powered it on and again a loud pop and burning smell. Now when i power it on its flashing red standby mode continuously and not coming out of it. I opened the chassis and observed that out of two big main caps, one gets hot and one remains cool when i power on the amp. Any idea what may have happened and where can i get it fixed in delhi/ncr

Don't play more. Just take it to some service guy. I think output transistors was gone due to shorting of speaker cables.

Does the pm8003 have no speaker protection or overload protection. Speaker protection prevents burning of the voice coils of speaker from DC at output while overload protection prevents damage to the output stage of the amplifier from low impedence loads or short circuit of output terminals.

Hi

Burning smell etc clear signs of channel going kaput.....take the same to a proper service guy.....

Whenever you change or reconnect speaker wires it is essential to be careful and connect appropriately without shotting the wires.....banana plu pins are better to avoid such issues

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
