Dear Friends,

I am looking for speakers for my Marantz PM6003. My budget is upto 20 to 21k.

I considered Wharfedale Diamond 10.1, MS AViano 2, Boston Acoustics A 26, Dali Zensor 1. Out of these i liked MS AViano 2 a lot. KEF q300 and MA BX2 are out of my budget.

I have placement issues i.e not much space available on the back side of the speakers. most of the above mentioned speakers are rear ported and they need more space on rear side. So i cannot go ahead with the above mentioned speakers.

I read somewhere that Polk Audio RTi A3 dont have much placement issues and they can be keep near the wall from the rear side.

I request all the FMs who own Polk Audio RTi A3 and who have auditioned these speakers to give their feedback about the same.

Regards, Amit

A3s are infact front ported so do not face to placement issues that rear ported speakers face... Personally I really liked the A3s & found them even better suited for my musical tastes than the KEF q300... Avino might be a better speaker but u should really audition & decide... One thing that u can do is try to replicate ur placement situation in the audition room of the Aviano 2... If u still like them then pick them... But if the placement does cause problems & u dont like the sound then its best to go with the A3s... BTW a word of caution... Dont listen to the Avianos is the audition room setting before switching to ur placement situation... When u go for an autition, straightaway ask them to place the speakers as they would be in ur room & listen to them... Also if possible carry ur amp with u for audition...

I have been using the A3's for the last 4 years as stereo speakers & they are quite good.. they are placed near the wall & they perform quite well.. Nice bass for their size:)

Please confirm with which amp you auditioned/listened music on polk audio rti a3.

Request other FMs who have auditioned this speaker to share their feedback.

By amp do you mean avr or stereo amp?
Anyways i heard it paired with a denon, and frankly speaking a denon avr is the best combo. reason being, as i mentioned earlier, these speakers are really bright and will need a warm amp like denon. A yamaha or pioneer will only make it sound worst.

If stereo amp is what you are looking for, Nad or marantz should be your choice..

Though ill still ask you to reconsider your choice of speaker. If under 20 is what you are looking at, you have options like the paradigms atom, monitor audio, dali zensor, wharfs 10.1, 10.2, 121, PSB B15, Qacoustics 2020 etc.
And frankly i rate all the mentioned speakers above as better than the RTiA3.

Cheers

thanks a lot for your recommendations. Request yo to see the first post in this thread.

if placement is problem, then go with new wharfedale 121.. what hifi recommends it better than monitor audio bx2.. and very nice for placing the speakers near wall..

infact i was keen on buying diamond 121. Diamond 121 is not available in Bangalore for audition, not sure if i should buy based on whathifi review, further not much information on diamond 121 in our forum.

Please let me know the feed back on diamond 121 as well if you have auditioned them.

You could possibly consider Wharf 9.2, it will be a great match. Also, much better product than MS Aviano, in my humble opinion, you may grow out of Avianos very soon, but 9.2 should keep you involved for a long time, and they are front ported. So placements will be less of an issue
Thanks

Srry for my late reply... I used my HK avr3600 to demo the A3s... As HK is a pretty warm amp , it was able to subdue the harshness of the A3s tweeter to a large extent... Another plus point for the polks is that non audiophiles have a very easy time liking them(my personal exp) mainly coz they are loud... This is a big plus for some who would like to show off there system to general public a lot... But as others have mentioned there are better speakers available in this range & u have to audition & decide which goes best with ur system...

About used speakers... Most FMs take very good care of their audio equipment... Thus most 2-3 yr old speakers would feel like they were bought 1 month or so ago :)... Used equips bought from forum members is a great way to save some money... Another FM (Santy) is selling this energy FS coz he is on an upgrading spree... I have heard these in person & these are fantastic sounding speakers... Do consider them too & see if u can fit them in ur budget/room...

We went to audition Polk Audio Rti A3 and KEF Q300 at Profx, MG Road. Unfortunately they didnt had either of them at that point of time. We ended up auditioning Rti A1 and KEf Q100. Rti A1 looked very attractive. But we liked the sound signature of Q100 much more.

So the answer is clear, choice will be KEF Q series. There is not stock in Bangalore as of now and the same is expected in a week or 10 days. will listen it once it come and then finalize. It is 9k more than my budget but will do some arrangement.

Anything specific about the Q300 as compared to the Q100? How much do the Q100s cost?

Q100 is priced at 27k and KEF Q300 is priced at 33k, you can get 10% discount on the mrp.

i request you refer KEF website to know the detailed difference between these two models.
