Unfortunately in our country people are more gravitated towards the glamour of Bollywood and Cricket.
We can also see the plight of certain non cricket sportsmen.

Not sure Manu, how long the money transfer takes to come into the recipient's account even if entitled to.

According to Wikipedia there is no monetary grant associated with the award - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bharat_Ratna

It is sad that we don't treat our musicians well or care about preserving our music. Art for art's sake is a good motto to preach, but everybody needs money to survive.

Why is the government using taxpayers money supposed to look after the sons and grandsons ? And how many generations is the government supposed to look after ? Why can't the sons and grandsons play music with the times using the traditional instruments if they want to follow the arts? And if they are not good enough, shouldn't they be looking at doing something else ?

Absolutely, The next generations should fend for themselves, not being dependent on Titles awarded to their Parents/Grand Parents. This idea of "Family of Bharat Ratna awardee" should be well off stems from a misconception that,
In India, if A Person becomes an Elected Member (Even Corporator level), their next 5 generations don't need to work for livelihood. We Got independence from British but Power of Freedom was Redistributed between 1.Political Class, 2.Their Chamchas, 3.Their Ultra rich Business Houses, 4.Their Favorite Media Houses, 5.Babus and 6.Judiciary. Common Man including the Working Class Never got freedom, its just a Regime Change for us. We need to follow all rules, pay all taxes including customs, Expect nothing in return.

Unless the family in Consideration doesn't belong to those 6 groups, please don't expect anything from Govt and fend for yourself.
BTW, the heirs of Bismillah khan were involved in Controversy by not Supporting or opposing the candidature of PM Modiji from Banaras.
So they had a option of being in group #2 above, and get all amenities, which they declined but the obvious fallout was expected and they shouldn't cry foul now & hope/wait for regime change which suits their belief system; Whom they'll support and that political class supports them back. Had they agreed and charged a Lakh per performance at a Mega Rally by CM/PM, their financial condition would've improved drastically, not to mention the recognition. They bet on wrong horse probably.

I dont have the bandwidth to watch videos. So I assumed that the bharat ratna recipient himself or herself is in dire straits. If it is their kin, then obviously they cant rest on their parents laurels.

But nice to see that our tax payers are very concerned with what our government does with our monies, atleast with what's left after Switzerland, cayman islands or more recently Mauritius

LIving a common man's life sometimes is better. He cares better for his nears and dears and does not have a greed to make 50 crores to 100 crores. S/he likes to go to the nearest hill station as against an actress lying dead in a bath tub in a 5 star hotel in Dubai marrying a multi millionaire producer. S/he can celebrate diwali with his/her kids instead of ultra rich parents with a chest pain sadly video conferencing with their children on a brand new yatch they bought for their selfish guilt pleasure. The common man will even stand by the Bharat rathna awardee's kids in times of trouble and fund raise averting a critical issue. The common man will seek pleasure whistling his brains off and elevate an aging superstar who is awash in money and yet cant watch a movie matnee evening with his family. He probably will not settle for even a huge fortune to be left all alone with all the money in place of having a caring wife and children with him and just enough to go around. The common man will leave enough for his childten to do something in life and not enough for them to do nothing in life.
