The Dolby sound setting actually works. You can set the sound setting for both hdmi and spdf.
Only the HD channels are Dolby digital however their volume level is low as pointed out earlier. Overall quality is poorer than the uncompressed sound tracks of blueray but that is obvious.
Hehe, getting NIRVANA setting it to Dolby Digital and ASSUMING you are getting it just because a COSMETIC OPTION is created? It DOESN'T DO ANYTHING for HDMI! WAKE UP!!!
If it was possible for TS to fix it without much fuss, they should have had done it atleast on the second update! They are completely clueless or IGNORANT to fix this original issue on TS+HD and recent issue on TS HD. Option or not, by default it should have DD audio only (if you set it that way under sound settings) like it was originally on TS HD.
in my hd box there is no optical out! in rca cable we get very poor quality audio out put? i tried it, and was very disappointed with the audio i got with the rca cable.
Is this update only for HD+ or for HD box too. Also what is the new software version after the update.
Both coax and optical are digital and carry digital audio. It is very hard to ascertain which is better, both serve the purpose. I suggest to get a good brand of cables but at the same time do not go overboard.
Also, if your STB supports audio over HDMI, then just a single HDMI cable will carry audio and video and you do not need to connect coax/optical.
@rocksterraghu,
Hi, I have noted your advice and would see that I don't route the LCD optical out to the AVR. But I fail to understand the reason behind giving a optical out from the LCD. In the CRT models they had the Audio out through the RCA cords which worked fine when plugged in the AVR audio in.Before subscribing to TS, I would often watch Star Movies /HBO through this mode i.e. TV audio out>AVR>speakers. (I have a Denon AVR 1604)
Well one more thing, slight off topic but relevant, some of the .mkv files are not played thru my WD player, but the same surprisingly can be played through the USB port of my Samsung LCD. But we have to compromise on the audio part, though the movie file is in DD/DTS it does not emit DD/DTS sound, when played through the LCD's usb port, it just displays stereo or Pro-Logic. Is there any setting by which we can encode the Dolby Digital or DTS sound. These DD/DTS signals emit very well when my WD player's optical out is connected to AVR in and display DOLBY DIGITAL or DTS SURROUND as the case may be.
Regards and Thanks.
