PRIME Membership Update 2025

Hi,

Got the below mail from Prime sometime back early afternoon. Seems they will include ads as part of regular membership. One would need to pay more for an ad free experience!

Wait till you see Jio Hotstar. The ads come in rolling after every few minutes like good old Doordarshan
For both the Ott playforms, if the additional charges( Rs 699/ anually - or 129/- per month for Prime only from 17th June ) apart from the normal subscription charges are paid then it will be ad free.

Besides Prime, I use Netflix.

Prime new cost (1499+699) would come to almost 190 per month.....the only advantage is free next day delivery (Amazon Prime) for online shopping done.

As far as JioHotstar goes, there are some ads for Live streamed events but for movies / web series no ads so far....not all content is DD 5.1 most are DD 2.0. Atmos is very limited to a few movies.

even after you pay all these fees, the relay quality, both video and audio is pretty crappy overall, high seas has all the content in lossless quality

Yes, all subscribers are getting this same message from Prime video. Similar happened some around two years back with disney hotstar. This is another way to earn more money and convert current members to higher premium segment. The viewers are helpless as no one like ads coming in between.

There is a cheaper tier prime for free deliveries. Im gonna subscribe to that once the prime subscription for this year is over

No it was much less for 3 months subscription since I only wanted to see Andor. For premium ad free it was more.
