Hi Audiogurus,

I'm considering purchasing 2 way tower speakers between (are there any other brands with small 2 way design towers?)

Proac's Studio 130 Vs Totem Arros

My most imp priorities are:-
1. sound of the drums
2. All types of music mostly classical Rock
3. Laid back
4. Listen to loud vol (12 o clock positon)
5. Room size 150 sqft
6. I'm looking for speakers more for sense of enjoyment rather than accuracy

Those who have actually listened to these please enlighten...

Kindest regards

Amp: Bryston B 60-R (60wrms @8ohms)
Speakers: ?
Source: LG DVD + Beresford MK IV
I.C: Monster cable Thx

Not sure what your budget is but Tyler Acoustics Reference monitor is one of the most musical 2 way floorstanders. Other optoins are Totem Hawk and Thiel CS1.6.

Generally you have to be careful about placement for 2-ways. Keep that in mind before splurging

interesting choices. both do well with low power amplification. but the totem is very fussy with placement but once you do will really reward you. additionally it is really slim. th proac is no slouch either and more placement friendly.

you have a tough choice between the two and will do well with either.

Not sure of their match with Bryston though..

Thanks arj. I will keep that in mind. Where would I get Tyler acoustics?

And if I opt for bookshelves which would you suggest between the two and why?

1. Totem rain maker
2. ProAC's Studio 110

Thanks a ton

Hi,

I would recommend the Proac Response series over the studio, not sure of the totem rainmaker to give you any pointers.

Any reason why you are considering only these two brands ? some others you may want to think of unless you have already finalised the final 2,

-Quad
-Dynaudio
-Magnepan (your amp will drive them)
-B&W (They do get beaten up but the 700 and up series is pretty good)

etc.

Hi,
For that old Bryston amplifier and your expectations i would suggest u look at floor standers (u can accomodate them?)
PRO AC STUDIO 140 (used like the last one that came along)
DALI IKONS
MONITOR AUDIO RS 6

Different price ranges but all are above 90db sensitivity if i am not wrong.

Totem Rainmaker wont satisfy you and the other totems are priced pretty steep.
Rgds
