Hi Friends,

I presently have a 2.1 Philips speaker set which I use for my PC. I am satisfied with the sound (though not comparable with Hi Fi Systems but reasonably clear for movies and music :p)
I have noticed that the volume wheel on my speakers (its like a mouse wheel)
has started creating problems. I can touch it and feel that the sound output has increased in one speaker and reduced in another.
I am not sure what the problem is. Can someone please advise?

Thank you!

Which speaker's noise has come down? the one connected to the PC or other one?

make sure the connections are OK between the speakers through the cable. if the volume knob continues to give trouble then just set it to max and control the volume from the PC directly. Also try with another pc to see if the speakers are working fine overall and its not the PC that might be problematic.

I have checked the physical connections. they are ok. The problem is only with the volume control wheel. There is no issue with the PC since I have used a set of headphones which are working ok on the PC.
Issue only arises when i am trying to control the volume. the balance in both speakers gets uneven.

Probably broken or a loose connection in the wiring. I'd set the volume on the speakers at 100% and control the volume level on the PC.

common problem with mechanical wheels on radio's and music systems.
sometimes the cause of distortion too...

turn the system off and use 2-3 drops of petrol and twist the wheel. it will clean off the dust inside. you should be good then.. this is pure desi jugaad... works for me...

Thanks a lot buddy. I will try it and infom you whether it works or not. can i try some other fluid like acetone or the fluid that comes with white ink nstead of petrol? Just for my GK :)
