Hi,

I am thankful to the forum on guidance on my Hi-Fi setup.
A relative is exploring a Projector + Audio Setup in 2 Lakh budget.
After audition, this is what he has got. I wanted to know if:
  1. Any alternative Projector (Epson / BenQ) should be considered? Inbuilt apps is a preference.
  2. Will a pair of good Tower Speaker be a better choice / alternative?
  3. Does he not need an AVR to drive the speakers (and video output to the Projectors from Laptop / USB etc.)?

Thanks,

1) In a 2 Lakh budget Benq / Epson should be considered 1st instead of LG projector.
2) what is the actual budget 2 L (including projector, audio setup or only for audio)??
3) In todays, a quality tower speaker cost around min 1 lakh or above (SVS, Warfadle Dimond, Polk Reserve, Heco Victa etc.)
4) Another 70 to 1 lakh for amplifier to drive those tower speaker (Denon 900ne, Marantz 6007, Audiolab 6000A etc) this all amplifier use as only 2 chanel mode (no dolby surround, dts x, atmos etc.)
So my suggestion should be strict with Yamaha"s (they are cost effective and activate all those fromat like dolby, atmos etc. for better theater like experience).

Hi,

i) At a budget of 2L & thereabouts for the Projector the Epson 9400 is the most popular choice and works great too.

ii) A good screen from Elite or a custom screen would be good. Looks like the suggested option works well.

iii) For length of 15 meters look for an Fiber optic HDMI cable else there can be loss of PQ & more importantly handshake delays.

iv) For a dedicated space AVR + 5.1 system would be better instead of a soundbar. Can be built in parts with AVR + 2.1/2.0 & even this will outdo a soundbar

Thanks @fLUX and @Sandip Das

I will evaluate these options.

Any guidance about bulb vs laser? Seems, the Epson 9400 is a better choice in terms of lens shift & zoom and will allow flexible mounting options.

They have a less used Marantz NR1509 and a pair of Dali Zensor 3.

I am encouraging them to use those. Not sure if Dali Zensor 3 as surround will become overkill.

Do share your thoughts and suggestions...

I don't think there are good laser alternatives at 2L range, I maybe wrong as I do not have much idea about models released in last couple of years but before the Epson 9400 was considered the best under 2L budget ( BenQ W2700 if I remember correctly being the compeititor).

Using the Marantz + Dali would be way better than the soundbar to start with. They won't be an overkill for surrounds later too, they can get oberon for fronts & an equivalent center follows by a sub later.
