Projector Question

A friend has someone coming from the US in Dec and wants recommendations for a good entry level HD projector, from a brand that has a presence in India, for ASS. Optoma, Epson are the ones that come to my mind. Any models recommended and any other brands?

While almost all the major companies have presence in India with service centers, none of them to my knowledge provide international warranty and after sales service for products purchased in USA. For example you can see a snapshot of warranty card in LG projector thread which clearly states warranty is available in country of purchase i.e. USA and Canada alone. I own a projector from Acer and the same statement is indicated on its warranty card as well.

However, the cost advantage, a lot of which has been wiped off because of depreciated rupee, does provide in a buffer to go in for a paid service support which is widely available in all major cities in India. For e.g., Esplanade Rd in Old Delhi has shops which can pretty much repair any projector.

Pls note that Epson projectors cost almost the same here as in the US. Something to keep in mind.

I agree, though probably the Indian presence for ASS is more for his comfort, as well as replacement bulb. Again I am just speculating.

I think, looking at the $ price, we can get items worth less than $500 only. I mean the Rs. 30k slab for carrying the goods from US.

Above that slab you pay duty (35K), below that it is fully exempt.
