Query with screen

Hi all,
I'm newbie and planning for HT setup for my living room.Since it is not dedicated setup , I'm planning to keep it fairly simple.pioneer htp 522 , planning liberty screen automated ,projector still not decided but planning a full hd /3d projector. I spoke to couple of dealers but got confused with respect the screen size .my room size 12*16 .i doubt should I go for 8' * 6' or 8' * 5' screen.One of the dealer suggested go for 7' * 5'.I would be happy if someone could help me out with this ? Not quite sure how will 4:3 and 16: 9 play a role in this.Also i will be glad if some members could demo their HT. projector options in mind Mitsubishi hc 4000 , epson 6100 or epson 8100.

You are welcome to stop by and view the Mitsu HC4000. Bring any Bluray Disc that you may have.

The older TV's were 4:3, the newer TV's are 16:9. Most of the stuff on TV that you will be watching is going to be 16:9 Movies are 2.35:1 You can watch a 2.35:1 movie on a 16:9 screen - but you will see black bars on the top and bottom.

That said-- go with a 16:9 screen. You said the width of your room is 12 feet- leaving 2 feet on either side (for your speakers) you can have a 8 feet wide screen by 4.5 feet tall

Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to meet/talk to you so that I can clear my doubts as i felt the dealers were pushing me towards the brands which they deal.I'm not able to pm you.Coming on to my original query , i see few channels on my lcd tv like star movies without black bars and few hindi movie channels with black bars. Say I buy a 8' * 6 ' screen so the display on screen will be same as my tv? Will this be 16:9 screen ? or some settings need to be changed ? Please excuse me if this is a silly question.

If you buy a 8' by 6' screen it will be a 4:3 format-- You can still use it to watch 16:9 image- only 4.5 feet of the height will be used and you will see black bars of 9 inches on top and 9 inches on bottom- This is for the Mistu HC4000.
