Question on playing 3D blu ray movies

Hi,
I have normal blu ray players(one sherwood and sony) and a LCD TV (2D).

So if i need to play 3D blu ray movies, i guess, i would be needing a 3D blu ray player and a 3D TV? Am i correct? Can a 3D blu ray disc be played by a 2D blu ray player?

Some 3D discs will have a 3D only but some witll have both 3D and 2D version on same disc and you choose selection on main menu.. I think such discs you can see in 2D player on a 2D TV.
