Hi,
As the title suggest can someone please direct me to some really good Tibetan Chants recordings (preferably high quality recordings).

Needs to be soothing for easy listening.

Thanks in advance!
Amen! :)

Mate - May I recommended something on the same lines. Gregorian Chants Gregorian chant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Have a listen to a few on YouTube. Just type Gregorian Chants when searching. Extremely soothing and perfect for easy listening. I find this music Soul Searching :)

Thanks RP and Manni, will give it a try too..

Tried some tracks and they sound very nice :)

cheers!

Second the recommendation on the Gregorian Chant.

More on topic, here's one
Chants: The Spirit of Tibet: Gyuto Monks of Tibet: Amazon.in: Music

Do see the reviews on Amazon UK for this CD and this link The Gyuto Monks Of Tibet - Chants: Spirit Of Tibet - Review - New Adventures In Hi-Fi

I haven't heard it, but it's on sale at Amazon.in, so might be worth a try.

@jsmithe - Yes, thanks. Actually my this thread was inspired by same.

Also like mentioned the other CD, I tried hearing its samples online. The monks have a very deep throated and powerful voice, typical of the Tibetan style.

BTW would like to know of any other songs that have the more folk Tibetan voice overs in them. I know Enigma used them very well in some of their songs.

OTOH I don't recall other songs that use Tibetan chant in them, but on a related note, if you happen to visit Karnataka don't miss the Namdroling Monastery if you haven't already been there. You get to hear the real thing. A/V very impressive!

I live next to a monastery so I get to hear live the chants, the clashing of the cymbals and the wind instruments (one of which called the gyaling is supposedly made from human shin bone).
Frankly speaking sometimes the sound disturbs.

p.s. There is a buddhist metal bowl. If you make circular caressing motions around its rim it creates a nice, soothing sound.

Lucky you :) Where do you exactly reside if I may ask? Somewhere is high serene mountains perhaps is the image I get :)

Yes, the bowl can create some powerful vibrations. Once we were out for lunch with my colleagues and one chap held a wine glass in his hand and started making circles on the rim of the glass on the top. Round and round.. then suddenly the glass started emitting this very high pitch sound and as we kept moving the finger the sound just kept increasing in intensity to the extent that it started sounding very irry. Couple of the folks just couldnt take it and we all shouted at once "Stop it!"

Then we all started playing with wine glasses trying to make similar sounds :p

Great suggestion. I was there recently, and at around 4 pm was grateful to experience almost a surreal event. More than 500 (the number could be more) monks chanting and praying together, it was an once in a lifetime experience. If you are a spiritual type and have questions that in you have no answers, you should experience it.
Here is a picture clicked by me to get you some idea.

I also highly advocate for Gregorian Chants.

I have the album. Really nice and soothing. Highly recommended. Hopefully you'll like it as much as I do.

I listen to one called " Tibetan Incantations", find it extremely soothing and relaxing.

+1 to that. I too have this CD and find the music very soothing.

Amazon link.......I bought this in India a few years ago, though they are not usually available in the popular brick & mortar music stores. You may get it in flipkart or rythmhouse.
