Regarding YHT 196!!

Hi Guys,

Just joined the forum and here comes the first post!!

Using YHT 196 for a while and planning to buy an active subwoofer.

But I am a little confused regarding the subwoofer port at the back.

Wanted to know when the active subwoofer is plugged into the amplifier, both the subs will play at the same time, or sound will come from only one of the subs?? And will there be any loss of out of the subs??

I will be following this thread . I too recently purchased YHT196 (though it faced an issue and with Service Center about a month)
Do you mind sharing your expereince so far with YHT196 and have you drilled down to the Active SW?

Not sure if you could add active sub woofer to YHT196. Before thinking about active sub woofer you may want to answer these questions.

Why do you want to add active sub woofer ? Obvious answer will be more or tight bass but..
Did you play through the settings? You can increase the bass level if required.
Did you tried different placements? Diagonal placement etc
What files do you generally play? files with DTS and HD Audio has better sound quality
Some tracks just do not have bass (Old Bollywood songs)

Your question regarding port is confusing.

In the end is it worth adding a sub in a HTIB? Isn't it better that you enjoy what you have now and save the money for separates for future.

You can refer my post on settings etc. Unless you have unusually large area you might not want to add active sub woofer. Sorry if I am too straight forward but my point is to first try to find the best settings of your system and if you still feel then go ahead.

Hi Tushar, the YHT 196 has a provision to connect 1 x active sub-woofer along with the existing Passive sub-woofer. This means that both the subs would be working at the same time, there is something called as phase control which can be used to tune the SUBS in case they are out of sync.
