Remote input selector and volume control

Hi,

I have Norge amp (with SSP as preamp) but without a remote control. I am looking for a solution to change the input by remote as it is pain to get up and change source manually. A DIY solution would be wonderful and fun project. Any help in this regard would be nice.

However I am open to a ready made solution as well. Is there something available in the market?

I looked at various 4-way input selector + motorized volume kits on ebay for ~$40. How good are these and would you recommend using it with Norge+SSP?

Norge amps have an optional remote as per their website. Wouldn't know if they would change sources.
Just curious, why would you want to change sources so often?

Norge remote is just for volume.

I have attached HTPC, STB and DVD player to the stereo hyeah:. So I have to switch over whenever I want to watch TV/ Movie/ listen to music. Right now I control volume through software (android app for foobar/xbmc), but I guess that affects the sound quality somewhat.
