RETHM Bhava with DCB1 + F5 V2 Combo

Hi All,

I am on lookout for the pros and cons of using RETHM Bhaava with DCB1+F5, which was shortly discussed in another thread. I am looking for a warm with forward sounding system.

All suggestions and input are welcome. Also I am planning for a Bhaava demo soon.

Excellent! I will be keenly following your thread.

The bhaavas are one of the speakers that I am keen on checking out when I change my system later in the year. Your audition experience will be helpful.

I have heard though from comments on other treads that Rethm speakers don't usually pair well with F5 - something to do with the damping factor (I think). Am no expert here - and my comments are more from what I have read.

Folks such as Prem, Hyrda etc who currently own other Rethm speakers may be able to chip in with a more realistic perspective. So far, I do not know of anyone in forum who has the bhaava

Even I heard it so, carry the monsters down to Kochi is not possible so all will depends on comments and suggestions

F5 should be fine with the Bhava. No issues. In fact they should play fine with any of the Rethm models. Although F3 may be more preferable with the other Rethm models

Well last Monday I was able to audition the bhava at the creator's place. We have listened to various genres of music from sufi to blues. Chris Jones No Sanctuary here I am still having goosebumps.

It was driven by a 1 watt tube amp and still I cant believe the amount of low frequency it produced.

Talking about Jacob he was a gentleman obliging my requests to change the songs or replacing CD's manually.

I have been told that soon the bhavas will be coming with new drivers which are much better and also a piece will be available in Pune for audition. Waiting for it to carry the monster (F5) & listen.

The best match for the above speakers will be a tube amp.A triode will be a perfect match i think avoid ss amps

Drivers - I didnt checked more about drivers however Jacob had mentioned its much better than current ones also should be available in two weeks through a new dealer
Pic - I forgot to click may be there was no electricity and all his equipment were solar powered.

Also he mentioned he haven't tried it with any SS amp since he is hardcore Tube guy.

I have seen your other post where you were trying to build diy speakers using Fostex and Dayton drivers. Are these project plans abandoned? Curious to know.

Hi Hari,

the dayton driver which I have is a 85db one so putting it up with FR will need a steep LPAD. So I am on look out for other option which also I have created a thread. Where I am looking to keep the FR with woofer in ISOBARIC configuration like Tysen V2.

I feel the F5 needs a good sensitivity speakers.

Absolutely correct. Rethm speakers have an integrated active bass module which is very capable of producing fantastic bass. The beauty comes from effortless integration with the very high efficiency FR drivers.

The high efficiency FR drivers allow them to be driven by clean initial watts of low powered amps(both SS and tubes). I have had very good results driving Saadhnas with F5T(~50W) as well as low powered ACA(5W), 1969 JLH(10W) and also Rethm Gaanam. If one can keep their listening expectations simple, Rethm speakers are match winners.

Wonderful insights Bhaskarcan. Which of those amps has become the mainstay? Also is the single driver the Lowther or the new generation one?

Just out of curiosity, which version of the Saadhhas do you have? Also can you let me know which are these amplifier brands - ACA & JLH? Sorry to sound ignorant on these!

Sorry for the late reply.

The Saadhna I listen to is the first generation one with Lowther DX55 as modified by Jacob. I love the old school x-overless full range reproduction of these Lowthers.

Presently I am driving the Saadhnas with Leben CS300 tube amp.

@apk: ACA means Nelson Pass designed Amp Camp Amp. It's a Single Ended, pure class A, 5W Solid State amp.

JLH stands for the legendary 10W class A amp, designed by Mr. John Linsley-Hood in 1969. It's still one of the most popular diy class A amp after all these years.
