Right now I am listening to ...

@grubyhalo - Never heard them. Will check them out. What's the album you recommend to start off with? Or any Greatest Hits/Best Of compilation?

This one should be a good sampler. Please try and listen to the samples before you shell out the moolah, just to make sure. There is a pretty good live concert at the archives.org...

@ grubyhalo

have you seen them performing 'maybe i'm wrong' in the movie blues brothers 2000? the soundtrack has the full version. great blues harp.

You're right, it is infact BB2000. Is that the song that's played live by the band at the village fete concert before the cops bust the show?

yep, but then the cops were all over the place :)
that movie introduced me to erykah badu, too. and the jam at the end was something else! the louisiana gator boys :)

Oh yeah, the Jam was awesome. I'm not an R&B guy but I gotta give it to Erykah Badu. She's something else, man. Her Baduizm is an awesome driving album and a good workout for the woofers!

you're right, a lot of the new black female soul singers have some great instrumentation going on behind. and the bass usually kicks butt!
if you're a fan of the 'underground movement', do check out jill scott and india arie. or, my personal favourite for satisfying a bassic instinct, massive attack.

Ah well Massive Attack is a different beast altogether. I never thought I'd ever like the trip-hop genre when I heard it first on a crappy Discman. Then I had a chance to listen to MA, Thievery Corp. and Portishead through my HD650s. WOW!

This was my introduction to T Corp., I am still blown by it everytime I listen. I have this and this as albums and the rest as singles in my HD. If you like T Corp., you should also try out The Future Sound of London...

Not at all, it's always a pleasure sharing the music I enjoy. BTW, try Royksopp if you can. Their music has the best and deepest (synthesized) bass I've ever heard. If you ever find a pair of speakers that handle Roykssop without burping or buzzing, buy it!

i've got a couple of royksopp tracks on some ministry of sound cds, which btw, also have theivery, gotan project, cinematic orchestra, et al. do check them out if you can.
and, to return the favour, do let me know if you're into jazz. there's quite a bit i can share on that genre :)

Share away all you like! Jazz comprises of a big chunk of my listening and would love to discover new music. :)

that's really good to hear! not many jazz afficionados around :)
going by the artistes we've mentioned so far, here's something i'm sure you'll like: Saint Germain Cafe
(hope i've done that right!)
it's a very cool blend of jazz and electronica; some call it nu-jazz. if you've heard tourist by st.germain, you'll know what i'm talking about.
the entire series is pretty good. do let me know if you've heard this stuff before.

Gotan Project is awesome, have two albums from them La Revancha Del Tango and Luntico. Definitely recommended.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
