Motherjane - Maktub.

Indian rock band and pretty good actually. Came recommended from a couple of friends on this forum @sameer @psychotropic. D/l on the internet and only MP3 rips. Unfortunately Audio CD is not available in the market it seems.

Hmmm. If I had known would have come in later myself. Was there in the evening today. Got some DVDs and also a new copy of Dil Chahta Hai.

I live just a long stone's throw away from Landmark but havn't yet visited it. Is it any good for music ? My wife bought the Allison Krauss/ Robert Plant album from there. Very interesting, but awful SQ. Cheers,
Sanjay

Nope, a very limited collection and mostly mainstream only. The place is huge and you are left to wander and discover at your own pace. But like any other place the music collection though is pretty limited at best.

That's surprising considering the fact that Landmark is the best place to pick music in Chennai. Maybe the Hyd. store is new and don't have enough inventory yet?

Actually I found the same thing in Chennai too. For instance in Chennai I could only find MP3 compilations of Ilaiyaraaja, not much at all in terms of Audio CDs and the English selection was pretty limited. In fact it was more of a stationery store than a music store.

It is also the best place in Hyderabad (as of now) to pick music, but the selection itself is pretty limited. I asked Motherjane and person typed "Mother Jan" right in front of me. He could not even spell Harry Belafonte. Lots of DVDs from Moser Baer in 2.0 (not 5.1). Some good things though like Blu-Ray movies are available at Rs. 999 with the option of buy 1 and get 1 free. But I went there primarily to pick up Audio CDs and on that front they are pretty limited. Even if its expensive, Amazon does have anything you ask of it.

Ah ok, I got ya. Compared with Amazon, the collection they have is pretty poor but they are way better than most other places to buy music. In Chennai, the store in Apex, Nungambakkam has the best western collection that I know of. However, since I usually don't go looking for film/regional music, I don't know how bad/good Landmark's collection is. Also, getting a knowledgeable person to help you find music is usually a hit or a miss..

I went in search for Smokies at Landmark, Chennai, but couldn't find single cd's in rack. I enquired the staff there, who didn't even know what am referring too, so had to spell out. Then, he asked me to see in his monitor if that's the one am referring too, yes it was, but shocking to see it was never stocked since 2007.

most people think uk prices are steep, but i've found amazon uk a great place to shop. for eg, a classic album like miles davis' kind of blue is just 4 pounds. that's approx. rs.320.

also, vat is deducted from all orders sent outside the uk. so the actual price of the cd is even lower. in fact, it's almost like getting free shipping.

the best part is that your order arrives in 5 days flat!

Thanks for sharing. Will check it out. I believe you need to register again for Amazon UK and that its different from Amazon US? Or can I use the same details or transfer the details from Amazon US to Amazon UK?

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
